Abstracts Inspired by the Sea and Warmer Shores

Anyone who knows me well will know I'm pretty much always going on about holidaying in the Maldives - having spent a wonderful 2 weeks on one of the many many Islands about 5 years ago, I long to go back and experience the warmth of the sun on my face in this truly magical place on our planet - I would so often say to myself whilst there ' I am in heaven on earth' and feel feelings of freedom and expansion just knowing that right now I am in the middle of the Indian Ocean, what an amazing feeling that is being away from it all, completely..........and yes, in my mind I go there often and experience all those feelings............anyway, this is what inspires me to paint the sea in the colours I have chosen - beautiful rich blues, turquoise and shimmers of gold and white:

Sea Breeze 90 x 90cm oil on canvas

Into the Dive 60 x 60cm oil on canvas

I Feel the Energy 76 x 76cm oil on canvas

Across the Sands 100 x 76cm oil on canvas

Seascape Commissions for Jersey Hotel | Abstract Yacht Seascape Paintings

Its been a bit of a journey for me, from start to finish, but I am pleased and proud to say that finally the 2 seascape commissions I started at the end of 2007 are now in their new home in the Reception Foyer at the beautiful luxury Royal Yacht Hotel, St Helier, Jersey. The largest painting measuring 2m x 1.2m took up most of my studio - the paintings were a pleasure to paint on such a large scale, very liberating to work with such big canvases on a subject that is so dear to my heart - the sea!! They are based on the Fastnet range of abstract seascapes that I completed in 2007 - this range has proved to be my most popular to date.

Here are the 2 paintings:-

Commission 1 - 2m x 1.2m oil on canvas

Commission 2 - 1.2m x 1m oil on canvas

I am looking forward to more seascape commission in 2008! Watch this space!!!

Seascapes as they happen !

Abstract Seascape Yacht Painting - I love doing these, they are amazing to do - painted in oils, very fluid, very quick, lots of pallet knife strokes, I almost feel I am there on the sea when I am painting these seascapes, truly exhilerating. 16x12" oil on canvas - cool!
